DEFINING CREATIVITY (1112703279)

What is CREATIVITY?

We often use the word “Creativity” in our daily life. But do we really know what is the meaning behind the word CREATIVITY?
According to Wikipedia, creativity refers to the phenomenon whereby a person creates something new that has some kind of value. According to the lecturers, creativity is the generation of new ideas or a new way of doing things. Well according to me, I personally think that creativity means generating new concept from an old idea. It’s a combination of old ideas presented in a fresh new way. Simple example, nowadays we use mobile phones to communicate with each other. But before mobile phones were invented, we used so many different ways in communicating with each other. So you see the idea of communicating with other people was there from the start. We just had to come up with a new concept to make people’s life easier. Being creative is basically seeing something common in a new way. It wouldn’t make sense to other people but it does to you.

People who are creative don’t really follow the rules. They are not the stereotypes. They are risk takers. Think of Lady Gaga. We have tons of musicians out there trying to show what they have to offer in the music industry. But what is it about Lady Gaga that people can remember? Is it the weird hair? Or the weird outfit? We all have different opinions about her. But admit it she took the world by storm. Good or bad she managed to break out from all the other singers making her one of the creative people.

We are all creative in our own way. There is no such thing as “I AM NOT CREATIVE.” We are born with the capability of thinking creatively about an idea. What holds us back is just the fear of having different opinion from the others and therefore we choose to follow the stereotypes.
